Dry Ridge Outfitters will guide you through the scenic back country of the Targhee National Forest, the Jedediah Smith Wilderness in the Teton Range, and the Bechler area of Yellowstone National Park. Most of our pack trips offer magnificent views of the peaks. We'll wander the wilderness, pass quietly through wildflowers and tall grass meadows. Wildlife and scenic photo opportunities are abundant.
We begin our day by saddling up the best-suited horse for your riding ability. We care that you feel completely comfortable and confident, so we'll take the time for you to become familiar with your horse and tack.
Our horses are sure-footed and mountain-bred. They have years of experience on the trail before a guest ever climbs into the saddle.

We like to slow the pace, travel on "horse-time," take our guests away from the hustle and bustle of their busy lifestyles. There will be plenty of time to explore, fish in nearby creeks or just relax with a good book.
Our camps are comfortable and "off the beaten path." And we practice low-impact camping ... leave only hoof prints, take only memories.

After a full day of horseback riding, our camp cook will prepare an excellent old-fashioned Western meal in Dutch ovens over an open fire. You'll never leave the campfire hungry. We can accommodate special dietary needs. Just let us know in advance.
We are a "'progressive" outfitter; meaning we pack all our gear in and out. For our shorter trips, those that last one or two nights, we usually stay in one camp. We feel it's more enjoyable if you stay in one place; venture out on day rides, fish, or just lounge around camp. Plan on moving camp every third day on the longer trips. The possibilities for longer trips are limitless.
Every year is different from the last. I suggest you plan your pack trip in the Tetons from mid-July through September. By mid-July, most of the snow has melted in the high country and the wild flowers are at their peak. Often September brings beautiful fall colors, warm sunny days and cool nights. We can offer pack trips as early as mid-June to early July but our destination will depend on snow levels. If you are vacationing in June, please inquire as to destination choices.
We love for children to come along on our pack trips, but they must be 8 years or older and have some riding experience. Click on the selections below to read about some of our pack trips and see photographs taken along the various trails.
