Our third day will take us on a 4-5 hour ride through one of the most beautiful canyons of the Park, bringing us to our second campsite in the Three Rivers Hot Spring area. Yellowstone/Bechler Meadow/Three River Hot Spring
3-DAY YELLOWSTONE PACK TRIP
August, 2010 (please inquire for specific dates)
Bechler is primarily a backcountry area featuring over 100 miles of trails and 33 campsites. This area of Yellowstone National Park is definitely one 'less-traveled' but has been a favorite for backcountry horse people, hikers and campers for many years. This section of Yellowstone is found in the far southwestern corner of the Park and is known as "Cascade Corner." Here you will see some of the most spectacular waterfalls of the Yellowstone.
Bechler offers its own unique geology, water features, wildlife and topography. It boasts of large meadows and marshes, thick undergrowth and lush forests. And of course, if we are lucky, we will see wildlife such as moose, beaver, deer, elk, black bear or wolves. Many birds frequent the Bechler as well, such as Sandhill cranes, bald eagles, osprey, water fowl, muskrats and river otters.
Our trip will begin in the northeast side of the Bechler Meadow staying in campsite 9B3. After a few river crossings we will find our quiet, quaint camp spot with a peaceful view of the horses grazing in this huge, lush meadow. Fishing in the Bechler River is just a short walk from camp. On our second day, we'll ride our horses up into the Bechler Canyon viewing Ouzel Falls, Colonnade Falls and Iris Falls. Then, after about 3 hours of riding this beautiful canyon, we'll come to confluence of the Phillips Fork, the Gregg Fork, and Ferns Fork Rivers. There we find an exceptional hot pot called Three Rivers Hot Spring where a long hot soak is awaiting us.
This three-day backcountry horse pack trip in the Bechler Region of Yellowstone National Park is an adventure just waiting to happen! Come join us!

Yellowstone/Bechler - Union Falls
3-DAY YELLOWSTONE PACK TRIP
August, 2010 (please inquire for specific dates)
Saddle up and enjoy the ultimate family horseback vacation riding into the backcountry of Yellowstone National Park. Wyoming horseback adventures don't get any better.
This pack trip takes you to a breathtakingly beautiful falls - one of Yellowstone's tallest at 250 feet and one of the most frequently named candidates for “most beautiful.” It is a massive, imposing, and gorgeous waterfall. About half a mile before you reach the falls, there is a well worn trail off to your left that goes about ¾ of a mile and ends up at a swimming hole. This hole, containing a small waterfall, is heated by thermal runoff. Not too hot and not too cold, a dip in the water is a refreshing and relaxing way to spend an afternoon.
Our campsite will be along the banks of Mountain Ash Creek where you can enjoy a campfire and fishing. From this site we'll day ride on the second day to the waterfall and swimming pool.
This trip will be on the "easy" side so your children are welcome. This will be a very fun trip, so bring the family on a horse pack trip you won’t ever forget!
