5-day Backcountry Horse Pack Trip

DSCN2718 (1)

DAY 1

This day begins from the Coyote Meadows trailhead and travels along the middle fork of Bitch Creek through some beautiful lodgepole forests. As we leave the pines, the canyon begins to open up and so do the wildflower meadows. Prepare to ride a rocky trail alongside the roaring narrows before entering the corrals. Try your hand at fishing or swimming in this clear cold stream.

Riding time: Approx. 3.5 hours.

DAY 2

Up we go on a steep 2 mile trail to Camp Lake. This is a lovely high elevation lake. Choose to picnic and hike around the lake or ride up higher for some lovely views of the canyon.

Riding time: A leisurely day.

DAY 3

After breakfast, we pack up and head up and over Dead Horse Pass into the head of Badger Canyon. This is definitely high up in the lonesome! Once in the bottom of the canyon, we ride to a quite spot along the banks of Badger Creek.

Riding time: 4 hours.

DAY 4

As we day ride up the ridge of Rammel Mountain, look south along the spine of the Tetons and down into the head-waters of Badger and Bitch Creek. On a clear day you can see as far north as Bechler Meadow and the Pitchtone Plateau of Yellowstone. Don’t forget your camera!

Riding time: A leisurely day.
